COMMON QUESTIONS

A cold room maintains a set temperature (e.g. −18°C) for long-term frozen storage. A blast freezer uses high-velocity air to rapidly reduce the product core temperature from +20°C to −18°C in 90–180 minutes, preserving cell structure and quality. Both can be in the same facility.
 
It involves Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ). This includes temperature mapping studies at multiple ambient conditions, sensor calibration certificates, SOP development, and a formal Validation Report. We provide full documentation packages.
 
For new systems we recommend R449A (a drop-in HFO blend replacing R404A) or R290 (propane) for smaller systems. R290 has zero global warming potential and excellent thermodynamic properties but requires ATEX-rated components. We advise on refrigerant selection based on system size, location, and regulatory outlook.
